Carlton Forest Champ; Baily's made it right!

What in the flipping world is with this thing. I ordered one from Baily's. 16" .325 pitch .063 gauge for a stihl and the thing barley works. You have to force a new stihl chain into the groove. I tried a good used chain to clean the paint from the groove and it barley fit and with it being stretched out as far as it was I couldn't adjust it tight. The chain works on other stihl bars but not this small piece of junk. The chain also tries to jump out of the groove where the bar meets the replaceable tip. It doesn't even work on the 028 I intended to put it on cause it pinches the chain at the bar mount.

Did I just get a bum bar or did I waste 16 bucks????????:dizzy:

I guess there's duds in every batch of every brand......I don't want to sound like a snob or a jerk......but for $16, are you surprised the quality control isn't better?

I did figure the prices were low because they were a closeout. I didn't expect stihl quality but I did expect something that would work for its intended application.

Similar Problem

I bought a Husqvarna bar not long ago that had a similar problem. Mine had a lot of paint in the groove. Might want to look at that. I also had a laminate bar that that collapsed on the chain when the bar nuts were tightened.

I duno what baily's policy is on that. I will have to wait till Monday to find out.

I saw that someone on this forum had a picture of a saw with one on it. I can't remember who it was though.

The bar has one code, what does it says?

My ebay 350 had a Forest Champ bar on it when I got it, and it works ok, nothing special. It sounds like yours might not be .063 gauge?

16-42-K367-FC is the number on the bar. The number 019 is also above that number.

16-42-K367-FC

16 = length

42= bar mount

K = .325

3= .063

67= # of links

FC= Forest Champ

Mighta got a dud, looks to be the correct size. But I am sure Bailey's will make you happy when you talk to them. There is a Bailey's forum right here, onsite btw.

Just call Bailey's on Monday. Anytime I"ve had a problem or a question they've gone out of their way to be helpful. I"ve never known,or heard of,them selling something that wasn't 100% what it was supposed to be. Let us know how this turns out, please.

Hmmmmmm - 367 is the true 3/8" in thousands, and 16 is of course the lenght in inches, but she rest doesn't tell me a sh1t........

Sawtroll that's a post I've been wating to see for a long time. I have to deal with that off brand whatever the hell they are numbers all the time. I get alot of Huskies, Macs, Cub Cadets, John Deere and other makes coming in for chains all the time. I ususally have to do it by eye because the number system on most of them are as you say, don't tell you schit.
