I don't think Stihl is good enough to clone Chinese saws. 
I was running searches on saws when I came across that link, just thought it was interesting on how they are copying the stihl saw, what model are they trying to take off of there the 070? 105cc engine.

Husqvarna 268, Husqvarna 365.
Well i wonder about Stihl's protection against copying their products, as i feel the 070 would only be applicable to third world countries as safety would not be of a major importance there.
Who will they copy next and i wonder what their quality is like maybe it's neally as good or same as the Stihl genuine range who knows.

Oh give me a break. Have you ever looked into Bill Gate's practices? It wouldn't surprise me if Stihl sold them the rights to these saws. Afterall, if they were going to copy a design by stealing, why would they pick an old, outdated design? They're not claiming to be Stihl saws, so I see no problem with them.

It would be very interesting to see what their quality levels are like as we see a lot of look alikes out here in Oz and most of it is pretty darn good.
The list includes Honda as i've seen some of there copies and boy is it not bad stuff.
Welcome to world trade it might even get the origional manufacturers down a little in price ??

Thats what I figure as well, Stihl cant sell them to allot of places because of the non safety devices now, so they may as well sell the design to China and let them make and sell it to third world countries. At least this way they are either getting a royalty off of the sale or it was an outright sale of the design either way Stihl only stood to gain off of an older design they where done with anyway.spacemule said:

These folks seem to be the copy cats of the world ,at present,all things not just saws.In the world of metal cutting tools it is amazing the similarity with regards to name brands.From my limited experience the products lack the quality of the originals they were copied from.I am somewhat biased in my opinion of Asian made goods and endeavor to avoid them.Somehow or another though I ended up with some.
When I lived in Turkey, I would see new 57 chevys and 63 chevy impalas with diesel motors. We couldnt bring them back because they didnt meet our 1985 car safety standards. They told us after so many years the templates are sold off and companys offshore could build them. Maybe something like that has happen with the Husky and Stihl knockoffs. Maybe the companys sold off the temps to some older saws so they could pad those pockets. Just a thought and it could be wrong too.

I've seen better quality coming from japan. The chinese are communists, and they use kids in their shops to build everything. does that explain enough for you? thus the reason I dislike chinese products, and everything else from them.
