Well I jumped into this one today. Ported the cylinder, started small on this one, removed the gasket, squish now at .022, raised the exhaust .019 back to stock timing, widened as much as I felt comfortable, was shooting for .100" to the piston skirt edge, ended up taking it out to .075, smoothed everything out, port matched the alu exhaust gasket and muffler. Port matched the intake to the intake bellows and smoothed out the casting lines, didn't widen the intake at all, wasn't allot of room to go I don't think, so left it alone for now. Here are a few pics, for all you pic whores.

yes thank you for the pix, that gets me motivated to do my 359

That looks good. I bet you're anxious to fire it up.

Thanks Brad, and everybody else. Ya, I'm totally excited about it. Can't wait. I still need a couple parts which I wont get till next week. Also need to get some sealant, so I should just use non hardening stuff, I got some Ultra Grey, will that work.

im really getting into this modding.thinking about trying it sometime on a ol beater saw..i wish one of you gooroos could make a video for us dummys.

I'm not a guru by any means. This just may be my first successful one. My first try was a flow. A video would be cool but time consuming. Its really not that hard, just take it slow. read read read, and ask allot of questions. Don't worry about asking too many questions, nobody minds.

sounds good...one question is on your measurements ...if you take of .075 on the piston skirt is that the whole measurement or is that just the amout you took off?

You can cut windows in a 371/372 piston if you want, depending on your intentions. It's real easy.

Yes, I knew that, cause you've told me before, but I left that out cause I don't excatly know how to do it? Or where to cut.

No, that is the amount that I widen the exhaust port to within the piston skirt edge, so there is .075" between the exhaust port edge and the piston skirt. Does that make sense?

that makes alot of sense...thanks ill eventually get comfortable enough to try it.

I'm cutting windows in the 380 piston I'm putting in your 372, I want to run it before and after to see what effect they have on my port design. I'll take pics.

You've never made any sense to me. :)

ha ha ha LOL, I've been known to make no sense sometimes.

I'd love to see pics. Dang cant wait for that saw.

Not sure if it will work for your project or not, but I use the black Permatex sealant. The one that is high temp and solvent resistant. I have had no trouble with it. A lot of people recommend Yamabond or Durco (I think that is what it is), but Permatex is a lot easier for me to find. Jacob or Brad would know what works best for modding purposes.

Nice work by the way.

Cutting windows in a 372 piston is counterproductive unless substantial modifications are made to the transfer ducts. I would not go that route on a work saw.

The grey Permatex Motoseal 1 is designed for two strokes. Had no troubles using it or several different mid to high temp silicone sealers.

Yamabond is/was fine think it's discontinued, Hondabond is much the same thing, but a messy product to deal with if you pull the saw down in the future. threebond 1211 another option. All are more money and harder to find.
