Here is a little in the technical pdf i have

1995 / ser-1123

Twelve 023L saws running next to one another at the same time produce the same amount of noise as one standard 023 saw

023L 1.1kW / 1.47 bhp / 4.7 kg
023 1.9kW / 2.55 bhp / 4.6 kg

Thanks for the info. I see what your saying now. This saw has no oily residue in it. The one pic of the muffler inards shows its that tan dry powdery carbon.

No pics to go along with this post, nobody to take them while I cut. I went to dealer and got carb kit. When comparing diaphrams I noticed the old one was kinda stiff. I suppose I should have just replaced it from the getgo. Took saw outside in the evening,20F,pulled rope a couple of times and it was running. Left out in cold garage overnight. Next day I went out, choke fast idle,3 pulls and its running. I took it back to neighbors and it cut alot better. Its no 034 but it seemed to run pretty well. Im still waiting for db meter and figure out how to use camera for movies. So as of now its running and Ive run about a tank of gas through it. Again its a mystery why it was disassembled and left for dead. :)

I am amazed at the reasons folks abandon chainsaws. I had a friend who bought an 017 brand new and took it back and demanded \ a refund days later. I asked him why and he said "because I couldn't keep it started." He knows I'm a chainsaw knucklehead and he didn't even call me. He went out and bought a generator and a Remington electric chainsaw... He tows the generator around on his property with his 4 wheeler and runs the electric chainsaw.

I hardly knew what to say to him.

The world is full of guys who buy 'em, cut up a tree, and stick 'em on the shelf for a few years and let the diaphrams turn to stone. After a quote from the dealer for a $100 to clean up the mess, they just walk away and forget about it. When I bought up the local engine shop's junk I ended up with a few 021/023/025 saws with nice looking top ends (hey, Ross, you have one of 'em!) We lucky CAD sufferers are the fortunate beneficiaries of people's laziness.
