038 magnum

Whats the weight and the HP for an 038 magnum. Also what's a good price for and fairly new one that's been used a couple times?

Haven't priced them recently, haven't been available in the US for about 5 years. I bought one brand new 15 years ago for $500, but that was 1987 dollars.

4.4 cubic inch displacement- same as the 044. (038 was 3.8 or 3.9, 038Super was 4.1)

038 Magnum, excellent saw! It is the big brother to the 028.
The Magnum has 4.9 HP at 9,000 rpm. It also produces 3.0 lb.ft of torque at around 6,500 rpm, good for getting through some tough stuff.
You may want to ask Gypo, if he has any new 038's kicking around. He usually has them priced very good

toneman, that is not what I remember. I thought the Mag had the same power as the 044 at 5.4 hp.

Personally, I never had the pleasure of running one....

According to the service manual it is 4.9HP
Maybe I will have it "tuned" by one the talented guys on this site to get a few more horses out of it
