044 crankcase

Can anyone tell me if on the flywheel side of the 044 case, is the bearing supposed to be flush on the inside. Mine is about 1mm off of flush and it won't go any further in. Thanks. Evan
 
Yes it is roughly, but more to the point, it NEEDS to be bottomed to the casting. If not, your crank will be displaced.

Did you heat the casing? - if so it should have just dropped in without any pressure (this will not be the case on the clutch side though...). If you are using a press, just push until it bottoms, ... carefully. Do NOT press on the bearing center -whatever you use should only press on the outer race.
