what is more rare the 166 sachs or 090 stilh i own both and it seems that the 166 is more rare i have been looking for some parts for my 166 but never seem to find them on ebay or any where else what are these saws worth on ebay:bowdown:

hey EJ, I think the 166 is more rare. I have only seen three of them in person. I have seen probably five in pictures. Most of them belong to the cutting edge in NY. I have probably seen two hundred 090's in person or in pictures.

what alot of people don't know is the 166 sachs can except the 090 or 3120 husky cylinder and piston that makes for a big monster saw

A point of interest,if this info is correct.The 166 Sachs has a 2.2 inch bore and a 1.89 inch stroke,making it a tad longer that a 125 Mac which is 1.835 inch.By contrast the 090 has a 1.6 inch stroke and a big fat 2.64 inch bore.

If it were possible and it may be for all I know,to use an 090 top end and a 166 Sachs lower, the engine would be 10.345 cu inch.Providing of course my info is correct.

big

the 3120 is 42mm stroke 60mm bore the 166 stroke is 48mm 56mm bore put that cylinder on that saw and it is a animal ask rick helsel and i got the 090 stihl on the sachs and it is a grunt horse buy the way big difference in the 166 and 3120 cc once they collide it takes a special spacer plate on the bottom of the cylinder i got one of those to:rockn:

I bought a 166 that was supposed to have a 090 topend. When it showed up it had a 166 top. It is still a good performer for its age. It will cut a 2.8 for 3 cuts over the block in 8x8. I would like to find a stock 166.
