Chopwood;646810]hey EJ, I think the 166 is more rare. I have only seen three of them in person. I have seen probably five in pictures. Most of them belong to the cutting edge in NY. I have probably seen two hundred 090's in person or in pictures.[/

I know where a couple more of them are but i'm not gonna say where thay are.:hmm3grin2orange:

My neighbor has a 166 in need of a top end. Will a 3120 top end, or any others that are available, bolt on without mods or loss of power? Thanks
Russell

always looking for parts for these saws

ploeframer do you have any extra parts for the 090 or the 166 or anybody that does:greenchainsaw: oh buy the way i just bought 5 090 stihl but want more:hmm3grin2orange:

I do not see why putting on the 3120 cylinder will give it much more cubic inches. You are gaining a larger combustion chamber but you are losing piston travel between the top of the cylinder to the top of you transfer ports. The only thing you can really gain is extended transfer ports as the piston travels further to the bottom of the cylinder.

read the hole thread

read the hole thread 166 sach is 56mm bore 48 mm stroke 3120 is 42 mm stroke and 60 mm bore you are going to gain 6 mm stroke and 4 mm bore that is like comparing a 61 rancher to a 2100 husky

Yes, I read the thread and know the stroke and bore of both saws. I would like to know the measurement of the piston travel from the top of the transfer ports and the top of the cylinders on both saws if someone may have them.
