I have the gas powered rope winch. Its worth its weight in gold!!!Its the portable winch brand.

Before you sink a lot of money in an electric winch put a lot of thought in your intended use. They are great for quick short pulls but not so good for long hard pulls. For example the 12,000# Badlands' rated duty cycle will only permit a full load pull of less than 4 feet every 15 minutes (45 seconds of pulling and 14 minutes & 15 secs cool down). Granted you probably will seldom pull a full load but long pulls of any significant weight will quickly exceed the duty cycle. Ron

Works great! Got the portable winch brand and 300ft of winch rope with many pulleys to increase pulling power. Use it to pull logs out of gullies. Great for rescue of the equipment if I go to far over the edge. Lifting strap around a tree works good for anchor point too.

Just got done watching videos of tractor winches. Thought it was funny all the examples are on flat land.

Plenty of uphill hauls on the tube , search for the winch brands , most vids are from Europe , here's one example .
