Finally got around to trying out the pistons in the saw. First off, the VEC was not very good quality and I could not get my hands on an Episan piston which is unfortunate. The weights of the three pistons are:
OEM - 100g (126 w/ wristpin)
Proline - 111g (131 w/ wristpin)
VEC - 120g (141 w/ wristpin)
The VEC showed a lot of flash and was just kind of unfinished as the wristpin would barely go into the piston and the piston was so rough that it would not even physically fit onto the rod.
The Proline was very nice, could have used some softer edges but I cleaned them up with some 320grit sandpaper. The wristpin was almost identical to OEM but a bit thinner. The proline also came with OEM style circlips (one tail instead of two).
Squish:
OEM - 0.055"
Proline - 0.051"
VEC - n/a couldnt get the piston onto the rod
Caber rings fit as they should and dry compression was 130psi, wet was 150psi.
Ring locate pins were in the same place as the old skirtless piston (OEM) on the proline piston but the VEC locate pins were between the intake and transfers.
