2159 bar and chain ?

hey all,i run a 16" bar on my 2159 with 3/8 chain and for most jobs it"s great. i was wondering about a 20" bar?would it be better to go to .325 narrow kerf chain or should i stay with the 3/8?most of what i cut is soft wood,spruce with also bucking hardwood.btw couldn't find result i was looking for in the search. thanks lol

3/8" should be fine. Can't think why you'd want to switch everything over to .325" every time you want to run a 20" bar.

never thought about changing things."brain fart"any ideas how the saw would preform in the cut with the 20" bar compared to the 16?

i cut all hardwood with 20" bar and 3/8 chain up to 18" although my saw is woods ported with no problems

my saw is still stock. i haven't built up the nerve to open up the muffler yet.

mine was brand new last year and wouldn't run worth a crap epa junk so i had it ported and muffler mod now it runs awesome

i have been reading about muffler mods in the search function and have the use of all welding stuff to do it. i guess i just build up the confidence to start.

mine came with a 20in bar with 3/8 chain, it runs fine with it. ive had it burried in quite a few different hardwoods with no problems.

i guess i will be looking for a 20" bar and some 3/8 chain.i have been reading alot about the diffrent cutter styles,is this just personal preference or is some better for diffrent jobs?

I've got two 359's, one muffler modded and one not, they do real well with 3/8ths 20" bars . You should do real well with 20", just be careful, those funny colored Huskys cut crooked due to their handle angles!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Chisel for clean wood, semi-chisel for dirty wood - I suggest that you keep a mix of both styles.

funny thing is i always thought the husky's were the "funny colored ones"lol. good point about keeping both types of chain handy.
