Just wondering what the going price for a used 288xp good condition. I found one for sale 30" bar for $300. I have never run one, can it run a 30 inch bar all right? I don't know anything about them. I would like a bigger saw for the occasional big stuff, I have a husky 353 now and was thinking maybe 372 or 575 does the 288 compare favorably to them? thanks in advance

Sounds like a decent price for a big saw as long as it has decent compression. I would give that for it if it were in good condition.

If if is all wore out and beat up...maybe not so much of a deal....

As long as it is in good running condition, it will pull a 30" better than either of the two saws you listed.

288 is a great saw. If you're not cutting a lot of big wood I'd go for the 372.
Since you will probably be cutting hardwood, I have learned that I don't know how big a bar you can run, but in Doug fir I have run up to a 36" with a 288 but it likes a 30" a lot better.

If you aren't going to buy it lemme know. I'll give'em $300 for it, even if I have to put new rings in it it's worth it dude. Great saw. My favorite from husky hands down. Buy it if ya can dude. I called around to the dealers here bout it and they told me $350-400 was what it should be going for.
