the muffler is more restricted in the US version. that part is easy enough to correct. you will then need an adjustable carb to tune it correctly. i think it is a walbro 194 (?).

ALL correct. Done a dozen 260's.......and they all rip. Just tune the carb to your ear plugs.....

My guess would be the absence of a choked-down muffler.

when the 066 came out it was in two versions. Single or dual port muffler. 7.0 hp vs 7.8.

Yup!

I haven’t had an 026 in some years, but I recall that they appreciated having the muffler opened up and that it perked them up nicely.
