Has anyone used a 3120XP? Is the horsepower worth the extra weight and price? I have a 372XP and love it, is bigger better? thanks for any advise.

Sure is, as you can see - No trees in sight!

Have you thought about a 395?

Chopwood is gonna call me wimpy on this one, but but I wouldn't carry a 3120 around cutting wood. You want a lot of power to pull the occasional big bar, but tear the crap out of big logs on a more regular basis, get a 395 or an 066. I can carry my 066 around for much of the day and feel okay (I've got 4 herniated discs in my back), but the 3120 stays on the mill. My next saw is a 372/046/7900 since it would be lighter and still have the power for middle sized stuff. The 3120 is a much heavier saw than a 395/066, and a 395/066 won't be light.

For anything but falling and bucking really really really big trees with really big bars...or racing. If I wasn't milling, I wouldn't have a 3120.

It's like the 880. If you need it, yes. But just to have a "big" saw, no. There's better alternatives, like the 660, or 395. You don't really even see timber big enough for one of those out here. Guys reach for a 660 when they need a big saw. People use them, mostly for milling in which case they're nice for pulling a long bar through a slab.

Dang, Jeff, you could have said "listen to Oldsaw"...that would have "pumped me up", but instead, you say the same thing like you are some sort of "original"....sheesh :)

I don't get any respect, no respect at all...fiddles with tie (wait, I don't wear ties outside of funerals and important meetings)...:jester:

Kinda like what Jeff said too..

Thats a great pic. I'm a hobby carver and i'd only be using the saw to block out big carvings, plus the "wow" factor of that thing sitting in the shop. I want it!

For the "stud" factor, it doesn't get much better...you could hunt down an 090, which has a 20cc advantage over the 3120...but...well.

It is a cool saw.

It's funny. I thought the same thing when my post came up, and saw your's was exactly the same. I was posting, got distracted and didn't hit "Submit" until several minutes later, so we were thinking the same thing at the same time.

So fine then! EVERYONE! LISTEN TO OLDSAW! I AGREE WITH WHAT HE SAID! :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Jeff we still     you........:D

:D :D

My local saw shop doesn't have a 3120 or 880 in stock, so i've not had the pleasure of picking up either saw. My 372 is plenty for my firewood saw, and i don't mind carrying it.

I sometimes wish I had stepped up to the 440/441/372 instead of the 361, but realistically, my DN361 will more than handle my needs. As it's been brought to my attention a couple of times, I probably wouldn't see much difference between a stock 440 and my ported 361. Unfortunately tho, I'm still fighting off the urge for a 7900 ;). Successfully, I might add.

We have never even been asked to bring one in! I guess we don't have large enough trees in our area, or maybe we don't have large enough operators?

There's a reason why they don't stock it.....

They don't regularly sell. My dealer has had an 880 on the shelf for three years now. They can't sell it. Even out here. They mark it down a little each year. It's money tied up, sitting on their shelf. They move 440-660's weekly...daily. Not a problem. You've got to find a buy for an 880. Buyers for 440/460/660s are a dime a dozen.
