They don't regularly sell. My dealer has had an 880 on the shelf for three years now. They can't sell it. Even out here. They mark it down a little each year. It's money tied up, sitting on their shelf. They move 440-660's weekly...daily. Not a problem. You've got to find a buy for an 880. Buyers for 440/460/660s are a dime a dozen.

Ok THX for answering the question...

Here they run a size or two smaller than that. They bring in one 660 a year at my former Stihl dealer, and usually end up selling it. My new dealer brings in two, but don't know their velocity. The new one does a better business in 361/440/460s, the old dealer does more consumer stuff with some 440s thrown in for good measure.

An 880 is a lot of inventory to have hanging on the shelf for 3 years. Great saw, but outside of sawmilling, not much use anymore for most people. You need the customer for that kind of product.

I was lucky enough to pick up a cream puff 088 already done up by Dave Neiger for cheap money. With the 42" bar I thought it was a big PITA! However, I put on a 25" ES bar and an 8 pin sprocket and now it's a riot to goof with. However, goof is the operative word. I never would have done it if I had to pay retail to do the same thing.

It's funny. I thought the same thing when my post came up, and saw your's was exactly the same. I was posting, got distracted and didn't hit "Submit" until several minutes later, so we were thinking the same thing at the same time.

So fine then! EVERYONE! LISTEN TO OLDSAW! I AGREE WITH WHAT HE SAID! :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:
