There are two Redmax dealers around here, but neither had anything over the size of the 3800. Did a little more thinking and researching today. I think am back to where I was a year ago. One larger saw (relative) and a little one. Thinking about grabbing one of those 372's that seem to be on sale everywhere. 372 should be big enough to do anything I run into for years, and a little 141, echo, efco or dolmar for all of this small stuff I seem to be doing.

I gave my brand new, not-broken-in-yet MS-361 a work out today. A climber friend and I did a take down in my front yard (pics to follow). The 361 is very impressive as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Luke, for your immediate needs, almost any saw will do. You won't be making a mistake wether you buy a 346 or an 044.
More than anything, it's the chain that counts. Once filing has been mastered then other things can be done to increase performance, such as muffler mods where the most significant gain is found, keeping in mind that the faster the saw, the better the dirt works.
Don't be duped into believing that moding the saw beyond the basics is life threating to the motor.
Anyone can hog out ports, turn down jugs, advance timing, etc., etc., however, if all these things don't jive, then what you will have is a loud gutless saw with a short lifespan.
So as you can see, it all goes back to basics. Using a well modded saw with a dull chain is tantamount to driving a car with the parking brake on, so it's all in the chain, then the motor.
I'd be doing your own basic mods first and playing with the filing aspect and gearing up the saw so you can see your own results.

Hi Frank, it's all that fresh air I have been getting lately on the third highest point in Ontario, which is 400 ft. higher than my Stihl/Husky dealer which is only a 10 minute walk downhill thru the bush.
