Doc, thanks for the info and model of your replacement carb, I wrote the carb number down so if i run into problems I will sure think about getting one of those 159. Nice work bench !!.

Not a problem. Glad to help out. Great to hear you got yours running good with not too much fuss or headaches. Got any pics?

The impulse line a 359 is only like an inch long or so, it goes from the outside of the manifold to a spigot on the bottom of the carb right where it mounts. They are sort of a pain unless you have the carb loose from the vibration isolators.

Great info, tanks!

I was having a hard time locating it. Is the impulse line what powers the fuel pump in the carb? What's it's purpose in life?

Another rookie question:

Do you guys have all the service maintenance tools and measurement quides, pressure gauges, piston stop, various pullers, etc. that are shown in the manuals? If so can you recommend a place to get them? Are they sold as a basic kit or did you buy them separately? I was looking at that little wire tool that fishes out the fuel filter line wondering where in the devil do you find such a thing. I have a couple of boxes of tools, snap-on sockets, drivers, etc. but none of this type of stuff.

The impulse line acts sort of like a pneumatic "push rod" against the diaphragm in the carb to pump the fuel.

The tools are available through any Husky dealer or Bailey's. They would more than likely have to be special ordered. As long as you have part #s should not be to big of a problem. I would recommend the clutch removal tool.

As far as the puller for fuel filter make one out of a wire coat hanger.

Will do! Thanks!

Well I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got the saw out for a test run into some real hard white oak. I fired it up, started on third pull and let it get good and warm. I reved it up a few times to clear the carb and then placed it into the wood and pulled the trigger, wow!! it tore into that oak like it was butter and never stumbled or faltered. I ran several cuts and every one of them was the same with no surge or lose of RPMs, just ran great !! . Doc, it looks like I will be ok with the carb I have , time will tell if it will give me problems. Thanks again guys for all your help:chainsaw:
