Hello Folks
My Christmas Present showed up today, Thanks Bro... I went to order a case for it at my local dealer, they said they would not do any warranty work on it since it was not bought there. I hope I have it put together right I have a screw left over and no idea where it goes. Anyway tomorrow it cuts down a Box-elder...
God Bless

I know what they are saying (the dealer), but i bet I would have went else where after that remark they made and bought my husky chainsaw case somewhere else too, online or Baileys.

Hello Cut4Fun
I believe in supporting the locals, however they had no 372 at all, so my brother bought one online. He lives 250mi away so his locals are not mine...

I'm told that most of the profit is found in the accessories/bar oil/chains/gas mix/wedges etc etc that are sold after the saw leaves the store. Bring that to their attention, remind them that they didn't stock the saw you bought and THEN take your business elsewhere. Go get a Dolmar case. They're better anyway IMO.

I don't believe that they are entitled to say that.....:bang: :bang:

Well, we are..............and this is why..............

I could be wrong, but does anyone really believe that Husky would make a special run of 372's with a DIFFERENT displacement just for Baileys? No other dealer in the country gets them. Just Baileys. Not all that likely if you think about it, is it? Would be kind of a EPA nightmare for them, don't you think? Kind of strange that it's only the "W" model. I will contact my Husky rep and ask him what the real story is on this saw. I'll E-mail him tonight in fact, and get back to everybody. Like I said, I'm not sure about these 372's, but I will get the word from Husky.

However, I am sure about another saw that is unique to Baileys. The 45cc 338 "california special". A customer came in a while back asking about that saw, and of course, I knew nothing about it. I checked with my Husky rep and he informed me that it is not a Husky cylinder and that HUSKY does not warranty that saw. So, dealers can't do warranty work, even if they want to. I think he said that the cylinder was Chinese made.

There are no IPL's from Husky listing either of these saws with any of the unique parts that are only offered on the Baileys models. Oh, maybe Husky does a special CD-ROM and special IPL's just for Baileys too. Yeah right!

Hey Big D!

Iv'e got the same one. Cheers bro!

I'll bet that mystery screw is the tiny black one that attaches the dog to the chain guard. Look and you will see a small hole that wants your little black screw.

My local dealer has both this new 372 XPW with the 51.4mm bore cylinder and the 338 California Special. Conspiracy theories just aren't what they used to be.

Told you I could be wrong! (And I think I hear some commies milling around in the attic.)

It will be interesting to hear what my rep says though. Could your local guy have got them from Baileys?

Spike do let us know what your rep says, looking forward to it. What's your take on the IPL listed on Bailey's? 375XPW-EPA.pdf I googled and some other internet shops are listing the 372XPW for sale but of course I don't know where they're getting them or if they are really in stock.

Both of my Husky dealers got them from their distributors, which I think are different from Bailey's distributor because both of my dealers stock the heated handle versions of many models.

Well guys, we do seem to have a real mystery here.

Here in the east, we buy direct from Husqvarna, not from distributors. Perhaps this is some kind of west coast deal.

But, a couple of facts:

Neither of these saws are listed in Husky's price list.

Neither of these cylinders are listed in the HUSQVARNA IPL's on their CD-ROM. Maybe Baileys did their own IPL's for these saws. Do the cylinders have HUSQVARNA part numbers?

The explanation of the 338 cali was exactly as told to me by my Husky rep. And he didn't just spit it out, he checked into it. I did E-mail him tonight and I will fill everyone in, whether I'm right or wrong.

I better go do something about those commies or they'll keep me up all night again!

Did Baileys advertise this saw as an exclusive?

On the warranty part I would not like to be a Husqvarna dealer seeing mail order & box store saws coming in for warranty work. If a customer is really concerned about a warranty buy from the dealer that you want fixing the product. Warranty is a lot of extra paper work for dealer's (especially small dealers).

We get quite a bit of one brand of commercial mowers that people will buy 30-40 miles away because they are $100-$200 cheaper. But they will bring them here to get them fixed because the other dealer either does not set them up right, have common parts in stock, or fix other problems correctly.

But when a customer learns our service and parts stock they usually never end up going anywhere else to buy product.

Hello Folks

Thanks Cuiser for the heads up on the dog screw. My brother told me he bought the saw from Norwalk, Baileys was out. Spike60 I understand how the local dealer feels, and I have no hard feelins towards them. This saw is a Christmas gift from my brother thats not into saws or sawing. He heard me say I wanted one and it came recommended by a Amish Sawer, whom I speak of often and have a tremendous amount of respect for. It will be interesting to find out what you here from Husqvarna...

I did find IPL's from Husky's Norwegian site on 338 XPT California

Interesting post there Spike, very interesting indeed. I find it odd as well a huge corp like Husky/E-lux would make special saws just for one single outfit and no one else. Seems to me they would be available at all dealers, not just one. I'd be a might ticked if Stihl was selling Lakeside a certain Stihl that only he could get and no one else could. Something odd about these so called Special saws. Keep us up to date Spike, this is interesting....
