Alot of my Buddies work for PCS in the potash mines here in Saskachewan. Are those the type of miners they would run? I want to go down on a tour to see but they haven't offered them in a long while

These miners are generally used on low-seam coal. Here is a video showing the machine at work.

No more after this as I have hijacked this thread enough! Back to your regularly schheduled program...

Nice work on the piston and cylinder! That guy is gonna be grinnin'!!!

The part I was milling is a head lift arm for a Highwall Miner. You can see them in the pics below. They are the parts that angle down and under the ripper chain. A left and right pair cost over $30K...:)

.

Wow heavy duty stuff.

PW - did you widen the ports in the piston, or lengthen them? Or just smooth out the Radii??

Both a little, but mostly to make it flow better, take out the casting flash and any imperfections.

Cool....i figured the latter...but noticed there might have been some other changes..

Meteor piston? where from?

oh, not stealing the thunder... But here's my video thread: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?p=2310270#post2310270

That one is not a meteor, its stock. Although I just got a 395 meteor piston today for another 395 that next after this one.

Yes. Bearings, crank seals, gaskets, piston rings, carb rebuild, fuel line, filter, impluse line. A major tune up. It would die if layed on it's side to fell a tree, kinda pain in the ass.

wow... i guess.

worked hard it's life, i guess.

What causes it to die when on it's side? mainly the carb i'd presume before??

If they are project saws, i'm your man. PM me if you get or find a decent one.

Thanks. :chainsaw:

I have 2 other projects, but I will be building them up. I'm a bit of a Hoarder you would say, I don't like usually giving away projects, but if I come across another soon, I'll let ya know.

Will,

put me in line...i'm tired of small saws :chainsaw::greenchainsaw:

Sure thing.
