4mix

The one thing about it is the mix. Designed for 50 to 1 and ONLY 50 to 1. 32 to 1 will kill it in a very short time and 40 to 1 cuts life in half. But we ALL run 50 to 1 like the manufacturer says now DON'T WE.

What kind of problems is the Shindiawa T2500 having? I'd like to know before we place our Spring order.

Yeah, we can fix that!

Not sure, but from what i have heard it has 2 sets of reed valves.

Too much oil will actually clog jets
LMAO, Do you know the what the actual viscosity differance between 32:1 and 50:1is?.Its VERY minimal. Sounds like whoever told you that wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed
I dont know about any problesm shidaiwa is having. Havnt heard anything myself, but the are almsot non existant around here so I wouldnt. The shin deisgn is better IMO because it actually uses the downward motion of the piston to raise pressure at the intake valve over atmospheric. Sort of like using the piston as a supercharger. From what I gather the stihl design is sort of like a old jawa total loss lubrication system four stroke as used in speedway motorcycles. Total loss lube system does nothing but lower the life span of a engine. If I bought a four banger it would be a Honda.

Octane

Four strokes don't like oil in the mix because it lowers the effective octane of the mixture.

Dolmar has some interesting developments coming with a 4 stroke chain saw. 12500 rpm from and all position unit.

Big deal. While 12.5 k is pretty high revs for a trimmer RPM isnt the limiting factor for 4 strokes. Its weight. Given enough R&D budget two cycles could be made cleaner, lighter and have more power than a comparable four stroke. BTW Last fall I tried out a Honda 4 stroke trimmer and thought it stunk performance wise. It was also fairly quiet, but the exhaust drone was annoying.

What is "stubk"?????

Honda has a new 25cc, 4-stroke trimmer, OHV and OHC. It weighs the same as the comparable 2-cyc pro trimmer. They claim it will pay for itself in one season w/the oil and fuel savings (commercial user). Where's the down side?

The dwon side is that Honda is loseing money on it. Dagger, who wroks for Honda said as much. Throw the same R&D budget at a two cycle and it would be lighter, more powerful and have the same or better fuel economy.

4 stroke

Ahh yes, but them 2 strokes don't make any credits with the EPA, and without them, the 2 strokes are in danger. Better get a 4 cycle so you can keep the 2s.
