Was over at the Stihl dealer today picking up some loops of RM chain as I have 5 cords of really dirty wood to block up. At any rate I asked the guy about the 441 and how its doing in the field. he said that they had only sold 6, but all six went to a large logging contractor. According to the dealer they havent had any problems with them since getting them this fall, which based on the way loggers treat saws is pretty darn good.

Insteresting, that about the same report I get from the guys down at Mid-Atlantic Stihl. They claim to date the saw has been doing fine, no bad reports to speak of.

I only had one customer come back that I sold one to. I asked him about the saw and he says its doing great and he likes it. The others I've sold to have never come back with good news or bad news so I reckon they're doing ok. Sometimes silence is golden.

Good to hear. I am trying hard not to order one next week. Buy the way, my better half has almost given me the affirmative.

Call me a skeptic, but I value the opinion of a few north woods loggers more than Atlantic Stihl and a couple of Yuppies, lol.

We've has several repeat customers (pro) recently, and they are choosing to pay slightly more for the 441 than getting the 440. We also have the other guys that swear by their 440's... Once set says the filters stay clean and the vibration is low; the others say "what's all the fuss about?

Not heard of any problems from anyone we've sold to. Never had one back for any repairs at all yet and they are getting used hard. I'm also (pleasantly) surprised that we haven't had any tech notes about updates or fixes. It's been in production for over 6 months.

Seems Stihl did their homework on this one and didnt drop a EGG like Husky did with the 575.

Really didn't want to say that but....................

I hope Husky really rethinks the 570/575 saws, and SOON!!! Way to heavy for what they are, and well, the reports haven't been good!

The weight of the 575 and the 441 is nearly identical. the 575 is only 3/10 of a pound heavier if I remember right.
The problem with the 575 is reliability.
IMMO both are too heavy as both gained over a pound over the saws they replaced.

I guess I'd notice the weight more if I was standin' around posin' for pictiures or sumthin',

I find my 441 is either sittin' in the garage, sittin' in the truck, or stttin' in a log makin' chips. But hey, I'm biased.

I wouldn't dare call you skeptic Ben, wonder who built those saws those loggers are using, hmmmmmm, Stihl maybe, naaaaa they wouldn't know much about saws now would they,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Mine has been fine, though I haven't used it too much lately with the screwed up weather.

I'll probably take it in to have the carb settings checked soon.
