The 441 does smell less(still smells a bit) and is better on fuel, but to be honest neither of these points are of much value to me.
What I want is the saw that puts the most amount of wood on the ground in the shortest amount of time, while vibrating and weighing the least.

If you've now got you new grinder, soon that will be all your saws.

I really like my 441, and to all of you who think that stihl stole the antivibe from husky...I dont care if they stole it, they certainly made it better, my 441 is so smooth that when I pick up one of our huskys I feel like something is wrong with it because the vibrations are so high. The amount of vibration in the huskys was never apparent to me until I started running the 441. The 441 is the most comfortable running saw I have ever had. As for cutting speed, I have had faster more powerful saws. But at the end of the day the 441 saves alot of energy in that it feels like it has less vibration, and it is much more comfortable to run. I think you can put just as much wood on the ground with the 441 as any other comparable saw, its really a question of which saw fits you the best, and I really prefer it over all the 70cc range huskys that I have had in terms of comfort and operator fatigue.

Well that makes sense, won't argue with ya on that. I don't saw all day anymore and have no urge to anymore. Makes me wonder why when I did I only had a few saws and now that I don't I got a saw for every limb on the whole dayumm tree and monster saws for trees that I will never get to cut, dayumm these saws,LOL

FWIW the dealer I talked to today said he had problems getting 441 Arctics.

They've been available in the PNW since late November. Not sure why we got them first though.. not like it's "Arctic" out here. Maybe the kept the 440 Arctic's for the real cold areas.

hereabouts

In my area I saw 441's on the shelf for a while, but now they all seem gone. The 440 seems to always be in stock.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr Sawtroll your too precise, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I thought it was 6000,lolol
That was a fun thread ya got to admit,LOL

Yes it was - and the actual discussion was over pretty early in the tread - the rest was just fun.....:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I am glad they are not available lest I be tempted to buy one.

I need another saw in that class like a whole in the head, but I find myself really wanting a 441, and will buy one in maybe 6 months if there are no changes.

I love the smoothness and the flattish power curve, and the less stink and better fuel consumption and the ability to clear noodles that Stihls have. I would use it for cutting the sides of blocks (noodles) that are around 20 inches long or less.

I am too addicted to power to want to use it for much for bucking, as the 7900 spanks it in say 26 inch wood with comparable weight.

It's not a problem as I almost always have at least 3 saws out while I work, generally 4.

I think I will hold off for the 461. The first saw I ever purchased new was an 046. I think it is only proper to purchase the next variant when it is available.

They surely will. The 441 is the only Stihl I know of that passes the next phase of EPA. The next regs are here in what, 2010?

Ahhh....I figured that the different products were seperated into their own groups for different requirements.
