Hey now, lets play nice, Ben is eating crow in his own way, and being very cordial about it, no need to rub it in his face!

One thing I have come to apreciate about you Ben, you aren't afraid to tell how it is, even if it's not what you belived. I give you kudos for that:bowdown:

Ben isn't eating crow. Fact is he never really said it was a bad saw in the Prince thread. He more less had strong doults about how reliable it would be. He hammered the 575 more than the 441 in that thread if I recall correctly.

Is anyone really getting numbers out there for the 441 all I keep reading is a few, or 4 or 5, or a half dozen seems like if it such a good saw backed by such a huge co. as Stihl, dealers would not be able to keep them in stock?? I know when the PS7900's came out they were a immediate HIT sold lots of those early saws and everyone was happy but Im just a lil ole Dolmar "Who??? Dolmar??" Dealer in the north country.

PS; same for the 575? where are all these saws being sold?

PSS;; Lately alot of husky owners come in complaining of those hard to start huskies and then want to buy one of them Dolmars

Good post there. Our rep came in one evening and I asked him if the 441 was moving well, he said nope and its not going to for awhile. I said whatcha mean. He said Stihl was rolling 440's out fast because the word is out they're about to be gone. He told me once the 440's are done with the sales of the 441 will climb bigtime. He went on to say there had been no issues at all with the 441 to date.

I did converse with one of the main guys at Va Beach asking the same questions about reliability of the 441. He said no issues to speak of from the field. He did say however servicing the 441 would be more of a task than the usual pro Stihl's due to the way its made. I did notice its the only big Stihl I know of that uses a throttle cable instead of the stiff wire linkage we're used to so he may have a point about alittle tougher to work on.

No doult as time goes on someone will burn one up and I hope its in my area, I wanna tear one apart and see the guts of that saw, not bad enuff to burn mine up though...

Bingo!
I wouldnt even say I doubted it was/would be reliable. I was more or less taking a wait and see approach instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

I went out and bought two new 440's last week, and my dealer had three left.I might end up buying another one just because I have so many old ones that I use for parts. My dealer had only sold two and said that both of those people were in the tree business as well, and they liked them. For me,it's not a matter of like or dislike,I just hate the fact that I'll have to switch saws and possibly start buying parts again.:bang:

Well Ben you've run the thing in wood and Sawtroll has asked you whatcha thought of it and you've never really gave him a striaght answer. So instead of hashing old arguments do like you always do Ben, tell it like it is. Tell us what you think of it after trying it out and don't throw in "well its not a 372" or this or that to mix things up, just what did you think of it as a saw.

I already did.
In short, not a bad saw, id take it over a 575 any day, but I prefer a 372, 460, or 7900 for now.

Fair enuff. As for me if I was sawing all day long, which I've done but rarely do anymore, I'd grab it over the 460 or 7900 for two reasons and it has nothing to do with speed. I like how it just goes and goes on a tank of fuel and when your bending over it those nasty fumes just aren't there. As for going out and just sawing a tree or two then anyone of those saws would be fine with me. I can't speak on the 372 for I've only run one of those, made only a few cuts with it and it was many years ago.

The 441 does smell less(still smells a bit) and is better on fuel, but to be honest neither of these points are of much value to me.
What I want is the saw that puts the most amount of wood on the ground in the shortest amount of time, while vibrating and weighing the least.
