500i decompression valve

Hi arborists
I bought a used 500i recently and I’m happy with it- it starts right up every time on the first to third pull. However the decompression valve has been pushed in since I got it, and it’s never popped up. Can anyone shed some light on why that may be happening and what that could cause? Thanks

How can you tell it's always pushed in? If you don't use it buy a plug and eliminate it, if you do use it unscrew it, clean the end, and see if that helps. If it doesn't help, buy a new OEM, NOT CHINESE one. As for not popping up, some crud in the seat or just not enough compression will do that. The saw would probably run funny if the decomp is always in, though.
