Maybe this is old news, or was shared in another thread (I can't get the search engine to work atm).

I was down at my dealer picking up some parts, and spied about 20 562XP's in boxes. When I asked about them, I was told that they were going back to Husky due to a recall. The recall was for defective ignition modules. They had no eta on replacements and/or a fix. The 555 was not included in the recall.

One was out of the box; it sure looked nice.

Another tidbit of news FWIW.....

LOL!!!

I was figuring the Dawg paint was flaking or something. LOL!!(Smilies ain't working)

If it's the coil/ignition, I gotta wonder if it's an EPA/timing issue.

At least it's something that can be rectified quickly, well, relatively and by Husky standards anyhow.

Stay safe!

What is the Difference Between the 555 and 562XP?

If the 555 is ok, but the 562XP is not, then what is the difference? They share much in the way of parts commonality. Could it be the Revboost feature of the 562? Maybe that is malfunctioning, or maybe as mentioned above it creates emissions issues.

What gives the 562 the extra performance? Port timing and ignition?

Ignition and cylinder are different as well as crank stuffers. There was talk of the 560xp having cut out problems over seas but that is just hear say.

Has the saw's reputation beaten out the silver paint in being the first thing to get tarnished?

Husky has to Get This Right

I put a 555 next to an MS362 yesterday. To me, there is a significant difference in weight and balance. The 555 has a little less power on paper than the MS362, but I have run both (not at the same time, however) and there cannot be a huge difference performance-wise, if any. From what I hear from you guys, and looking at the specs, the 562xp will close that performance gap.

If Husky can get this right, they will have a winner with this new pair of saws. I really like the 555, and that is not just hype. I have run a bunch of saws for many years, and have both Husky and Stihl. I can reach for any number of saws, but really like this new little Husky. In the high $500 range, it is competitively priced.

If nothing else Husky and Stihl can keep each other on their toes. Now, if Husky would only reintroduce the 2100 I'd be happy;).

It seems unlikely that a single defective part that is very easily swapped out would be the sole reason for any recall. If it were a matter of parts then dealers would take care of it. To go back to Sweden must mean an EPA issue - albeit revolving around the ignition coil - and it needs to be recertified with the new coils. Calling the coil "defective" may be the easy way to say it. Maybe I shoulda removed the coil before I sent it back..... :msp_tongue:

That is what I'm thinking. Swapping out any part related to combustion would need EPA re-cert.

I have faith Husky can flip flop things around on the production line and correct those allready shipped in a heartbeat.
Waiting on the EPA to get off thier dead ass and process the paperwork is another matter..might be a while.

Stay safe!

Yep, I was thinking about the same. :msp_wink:

Something I noted, is that your saw was made several months ago (week 27), so probably of very early production - maybe that batch wasn't 100% the same as those certified by the EPA, or just wasn't identified to be?

LOL, it's the same as it was with the 357 XP! Those 562 XPs are going to gain some weight before they return, but the published specs will remain the same. I'm only half-kidding.

Just wondering, to get my facts straight, the 357 had cases breaking, correct? Recalled then beefed up and released?

It was weak around the front spring mount/chain catcher area. There were occurances where the case would break when the chain came off. I don't remember a recall but there was an SB for sure.

And unless ignition modules have been known to add a substantial amount of weight - I don't think the 562 is changing in that category!

OK boys, here's what I have learned.

Quality control identified a piston/cylinder defect, (vendor issue), on saws in a certain serial number range. We're only talking less than 200 saws that they are certain of. But the only way to be sure that the problem is confined to that number sequence is to call them all back to be certain everything is OK before releasing them. While this is being done, they are air freighting in more saws so they can FINALLY start selling the dopey things.

It's not electronic, and it's not EPA related.

But, ya still gotta laugh at the whole thing.

Well hopefully this will get worked out soon. It seems like the release of them has been a year in waiting.
