Hey ya'll. I've got a 575 that I run 20" and 24" bars with no problem. But i have some rather large pine tree's a customer wants cut down that range from 18" to 34". I know the saw i rated up to 32", but will it accually pull a 32" bar without bogging it down to much. Or should i just go get a 385 to be on the safe side. Thanks for the input.
P.S. I've got a 361C for sale if anyone interested, i'll put it in the Tradin' Post as soon as i get some pics.

I wouldn't, I run a 28" on my 371, a 28" is a good bar for lots of things, I have cut down a few trees that were 4' with it. If you are going to step up the 385 isn't that much of a jump, geta 395.:blob2:

It shouldn't be a problem to cut down 34" trees with a 24" bar.....:blob2: :blob2:

If you go longer, use full skip chain, and you should be OK - or use the job as an excuse to get a 395xp.........;) :D

I do run skip on my 24", (i guess i forgot to mention that )and it had no prob. pulling at all. I just didn't want it to be a turd-box with a longer bar on it.

I’ve had my 28” bar buried and it’s still got plenty of power. I’m sure it could handle a 32” bar, plus it won’t be hard wood. Keep the chain sharp and tight.

Not a logger here but you should be able to handle a 44" root flare with a 24" bar without any problem. Been doing that myself a little here and there.

Timber fellers around my neck of the woods routinely run 32" bars on the 440's, 372's, and 441's. I know the 575 is supposed to be a match for all of these, so I don't see a reason why you won't do just fine for your stated purpose. Note that the fellers around here are working the pine and fir that make up 99% of the cutting in these western forests. Hardwood is a different story.

All that being said, if the pro's are making it work and they get paid by scale or as bushel fallers, you won't be disappointed.

P.S. Get the 395 just in case. :greenchainsaw:

I've been debating on getting a bigger saw just for the bigger stuff, i just can't justify spending $1000 (yet) for something i'll use maybe once a month tops. But the bigger saw idea is definetly in the back of my head.

We have a 575 with a 32" that we use mostly for stump cuts and felling cuts on big willows and maples. It's too much bar for the saw IMO but it does OK for what we use if for. Run skip. It would be a great saw with a 28" bar.
