Did the standard 72 dl chain fit with the 8 pin?

yes, fit just fine.. I think you run into problems though when you go up to 9.

just yesterday it got my 36" bar and chain to fit on there with the 8 pin. It still cut pretty good, i didnt put it in any big wood though. 8 pin might be a bit too much for 36" bar....??

At the Ohio GTG where we were playing with a 5 ft bar on my old 066 Mag, full comp, we were running an 8 pin. We were just noodling but buried it full length.

cool! thats good to know. im gonna play with it some more, but i may just leave it on there.

you need to time it.

my saws SEEM to be a lot happier with an 8 tooth then a 7 tooth, but the stop watch proves otherwise in bigger wood.

a 9 tooth was too much for my saw and an aggressive chain.

Ment to put this up before, bottom is a modified 16 inch bar I run on 066 with 10 pin gear.

Top is a 12 pin gear showing about how much would need to be cut off of a longer bar to make it work.

Heed Timberwolf's advice he's dead on.
I run a 10 pin 20" modified bar on one of my 066's.

Pretty scarey throwin' a chain on stock bar.:jawdrop:
Don't ask how I know.:dizzy:

Nice illustration. Does anybody make wide body bars?

How does the 066 like 10T? I ordered a 10T same time I got 9T but have'nt got round to modifying a bar yet... 9T works well though - hogs along even in blue gum (hard as hell) but could be faster with 8T in this wood :monkey:

9T covers the range of cutting well - stock.

No trouble with 10 pin gear for gtg fun. Likely fine even with 11 pin in 8x8 or 10 inch round.

I have even run it a little for cutting up fire wood with 10 no trouble.
