Sending both out tommorrow to get done...I have heard of many peeps doin the 7900 but not much with the 5100...does the 5100 take to a modded muffler well? also is there any negatives besides more noise?
Get those mufflers Modded for sure!
When I had my 7900 I muffler moded it buy cutting the end off the internal baffle and ditching the spark screen. It picked up a small amount by doing this, but no where close to the effect a muffler mod had on my Husky 372's, 346, and Stihl 440.
Rydaddy,
Which would you rather have in decent size hardwood with a 20" or 24" bar, a stock 7900 or the DN 361?:help:
Please don't say both because I can resist anything..... but temptation.
Jack
20" bar = DN361
24" bar = 7900
Sorry, I realize that I kind of answered "both" but I consider it a (2) part question when you say 20" and 24" bar. If you have a saw larger then the 361 or the 7900 then you would probably prefer the DN361. But, if the 361 would be your largest saw... then you might like the 7900 better because it balances better with the 24" bar. 361 is a little nose heavy with a 24". Sorry if I just made things worse for you. You can't go wrong either way. If it helps, I may be selling my 361 because I don't think it will get used as much between my 5100 and 7900.
Edit... what did I just say? Basically if you are looking to add a "larger" saw to your line-up go with the 7900.
