I am looking for a durable/cooler summer shirt for tree work. Does anyone use those
'moisture wicking' shirts? Underarmor and Columbia make them among others. Thanks for any ideas.

I have shirt that's all synthenic. It has little holes threw the whole shirt, but it is super cool. I don't know how it will hold up to the rough wear and tear of tree work. I got it when I used to shoot run and gun pistol compitions. When I get home, I will get the name off the tag. When wearing this shirt its like having air conditioning in a shirt.

I wear them everyday every season. I think they keep you warmer also as you are dry not wet in cold weather. In the summer they are awesome too as you don't have that wet feel but a nice cool silky feel.

I have one of those real thin with little ariation holes short sleeves that I bought for river rafting in Colorado (think its polester)and used it as a under shirt while working up there last fall, I'll have to get some more it really keeps you dry and I switched to wool sox my boots used to get soaked down here in Texas as cotton holds it, and the wool doesn't more money but mabe the boots will last longer, also in Colorado would strip down to the thin shirt at lunch and hang the heavy longsleves on chipper inside out then throw it back on when reentering the tree, Down here it's so humid in july and August I woud take a complete extra set of close and change in chipper truck at lunch and then be soaked again on the way home.

Them holey shirts is gonna fill ya draws up with saw dust. I like the losser fitting hockey shirts although they are black.

TMDan, the Holes are teeny tiny, not really holes was sold as a water shirt cause they dry so fast for rafting, also the base layer stuff for snow skieng does the same wicking drying i think it's polypropelene its exspensive too, saw chips in my draws any way at least when I get to work again, "Rain drippin off tha brim of my hat sure is cold today" I was druling over that 07 Bandit but Id have to sell evry thing on my sig to get 20K see its not on the classifieds did you sell it,

What's missing here for me is "durable". I'm old and decrepit, when I'm up in a tree I hug it and crawl over it like I'm making love to it. Long sleeve durable is about all I can wear. Right now it's old work shirts either 100% cotton or more likely the cotton poly blends. I would truly welcome something synthetic that would at least breathe better. Oh, and being in Texas, dripping wet with sweat and avoiding heat exhaustion or worse yet heat stroke is a daily task in the summer.

I like climbing in long sleeve T's in the cooler months. I like short sleeves in the Summer here where temps often reach 106-110 (actual temps) during the day. I have found that once you sweat the shirt through the moisture actually helps to cool you... I have to admit that I do sometimes climb in a muscle shirt sometimes tho... :hmm3grin2orange:

The Mexicans and cowboys around here cover themselves from head to toe in the heat of the Summer here to protect themselves from the sun. Both wear bandanas. Only way to distinguish them when they are out in the fields cutting hey is one wears a sombrero, one wears a large brim cowboy hat. And yes, I am for real. We got real cowboys where I live... Real Indians too.
