It is not how big your saw is . . . . It is more important how you go about using it.

All joking aside safety gear is good. I am guilty I only wear my full face helmet with hearing protecion, and my good boot's when cutting. I have chap's haven't worn them in year's, but I should. It just get's so hot, and uncomfortable. I know no excuse.

Jacob is indeed a fine young man, and his Dad is a lot of fun to visit with as well. The young lady was quiet but hung around and listened as we talked saws and took the 1-43 and PM700 out for a spin.

On my way home Friday I stopped in a shop somewhere south of Hanibal, MO and inquired about old saws. I'd stopped earlier in the year but the owner was not available to discuss old saws on hand. This time he was and remembered a few in the space above the shop. I came home with another McCulloch 35 complete with bar and 1/2" pitch chain, and a WD95 with the H-81 (8.1 In³) engine. Look at the photo's carefully and you will see how it had been modified for use on a kart as some point.

Anyone out there know if there are clutch drums that work on these old beasts? I now have the AH47, AH58, and a couple of the H81 versions.

Norm,

better than nothing... I will say, chaps or NOT, I'm not one to stand in the direct PLANE of the chain...usually off to the side (monkey arms help with that  )

shorts help... denim isn't going to do a DAMN thing if the chain hits... the chaps will, though...

Looking good Jacob. Got the package yesterday. Looks like that saw got a wee bit of moisture exposure. No worries though. Except for the rusted reeds, the bits I needed are fine. Think I saw some of those reeds on feebay the other day. Will send out your Mcstarter ASAP.

The reed block, manifold, and carb (most important parts) are fine. The reed block will need a little corrosion removal, but will clean up fine. The reeds are shot however. One's rusted through, and the others have thin spots. I'll either replace 'em with OEM, or find another sollution. The Homelite starter handle is in great shape, and will go on the C5 in my avy pic. Thanks Kyle!

Aaron,

just get some reed material from a 4-wheeler, or dirt bike... you can make your own...

the newer materials will work better as well.

That's what I'm a thinkin'..........and why I wasn't bummed when I saw that the steel stockers were rusted. They're held on with screws (not rivets like with some) so they're a cinch to change out. They're the same profile as what's on my 900D, XP1020, and 1130G saws, so I'll probably be cuting out a few sets. Always swapped Boysen reeds into my dirt bikes and quads. Now I need to get a sheet of that stuff...

The big Power Products saw engines made nice goKart engines in 1961
