I'm looking for a saw to keep handy when I'm up on a log wall, or something similar. I don't need a whole lot of power, I just want something small, light, and top handled. I'm intending for this saw to run an 8" cannon carving bar, so it's got to have the right bar mount, and have 1/4" pitch sprockets available. Any ideas?

I have seen some tiny Tanaka saws, but they are pricey. Supposedly a very well made saw though.

Smallest saw right here:

Here is the smallest and lightest saw. It is also remarkably good on gas too...

Does anyone know anything about the Echo CS-271T?

From the a bit a googling I did it seems that it should take std echo bars and clutchs, so no problem running 1/4" chain and a 8" cannon. I know echo's get a bad rap, but I'd say for the use you're considering it should fit the bill.

Just build a nitro burning RC direct drive palm saw. If I had the time I'd build one myself. Step the bar down to 4"-6" on that one horse puppy.

I've been wanting to build one for years, useless but definitely cool.

I'm not saying I'm against the idea, but a person has to admit that using a corpse as a means of comparing the size of an object or as a measuring device is different.

"Well Nancy, you were asking about the size of my tool ........... here is my tool and here is a dead squirrel for comparison."

"Ed what is the length of that rafter?"
"Its about 12 dead squirrels long."

Poster, thinking to himself, "Man, where is that tape measure, the guys on AS won't believe how small this saw is ............ Oh, hey, here is a dead squirrel, I'll just use that for comparison."

Some things are not wrong, just different.
