absolute smallest, lightest saw?

Some guys just don't get it. That was a joke for a fun saw. You'll never see that kind of RPM in a cut or that much HP.
Just go buy the 192T or the Echo. If you want to go "on the cheap" to start out, go find an old Remington Mighty Might, A Poulan XXV Mini or variation of it, Homie or 009L. You can buy those saws all day long for 20-50 bucks. There is a real nice 009L around here on craigslist for 85 bucks with a case ready to go.

I've got a Homie, Mccullock, Eager Beaver, 009, 009L, Craftsman, Poulan XXV Mini or a variant of it. They are all top handles. Do you like red, orange, grey, green or yellow?

Do NOT get a 009 if you are expecting 1 handed operation. The handle is actually offset behind the saw which gives the saw ZERO balance for 1 handed use.

One of the saw shops just switched to Efco and I've heard good things about Efco so far and they have a little 132s top handle that is 7.5lbs 30.?cc's and looks to be a good saw. I got one that needs a little help so I haven't run one yet. Even if I had run a 132s before now I wouldn't know how to compair it to other market comprobable models.

I also haven't seen anyone mention a Husky's newer T435... 7.5lbs 35.2cc 2.01HP...

I'll have to look when I get home, but I'm pretty sure my LX30 Bandit weighs in under 10lbs ready to cut with a 12" b&c, full of gas and bar oil.....

I'm not saying I'm against the idea, but a person has to admit that using a corpse as a means of comparing the size of an object or as a measuring device is different.

"Well Nancy, you were asking about the size of my tool ........... here is my tool and here is a dead squirrel for comparison."

"Ed what is the length of that rafter?"
"Its about 12 dead squirrels long."

Poster, thinking to himself, "Man, where is that tape measure, the guys on AS won't believe how small this saw is ............ Oh, hey, here is a dead squirrel, I'll just use that for comparison."

Now that's funny, right there. I hope my co-workers don't hear me laughing...

At least he doesn't have the hazzle of metric vs. imperial measurements....:msp_wink:

I vote for the Echo

I have a matched set of Echo's Older 340's or 3400 whatever, about 30cc
One runs a little stronger than the other one. Swapped the 14" bars out for 10" and am quite happy with them.
Not gonna win any races. For a small chopper it works good. 6 pounds sounds about right.

Watch when ya fuel it. The tanks are reversed from normal.

Dreadful idea. Send a Echo to be ported... :hmm3grin2orange:

Good lord, you're inviting the wrath of pgg and the troll!:hmm3grin2orange: 7-1/2# is closer to what Echo claims. I use some small Echos (3450, 346) for trimming, limbing, and such, but have no illusions of them being "pro-grade" saws despite what some wish to think. Copius quantities of plastic make them light and inexpensive, but they are clamshells.....With the reed valve they seem to pull strongest when running pretty rich on top end.

Echo says there 330 ? is the lightest saw available now.

The 341 isn't so small, but 7.6 pounds and has great power, so i would say the 330t would be a good alternative.

The Eager Beaver is pretty small!

I've had a chance to use my 3000t a few times now and couldn't be happier with it. I wanted something cheap I could carry on my snowmobile for clearing trails and it works great for that task. With the 12" bar it balances nicely and weighs next to nothing. Couple squirts of a primer bulb and a pull or two choked and it fires off and after a quick warmup it's good to go. So far I've cut up a rotted willow tree that got blown down across a trail and it was maybe 10" at the butt. I've also limbed some alders that were all of 4" or so.

I carry a lopper for stuff up to 1", small bow saw for 1-2" and fire up the little echo for bigger stuff.

would be better if that was a beaver laying there next to the saw
It's not looking too eager though. And how would you measure a Timber Bear? Probably safer to measure everything with a dead squirrel!

I would have to say a Husqvarna 339xp. Light weight, decent performance, rear handle and only weighs around 8, maybe 9 squirrels at most.

Did I mention the 339xp can easily pull a .325 chain in wood up to 1/2-3/4 squirrel thick.

You really notice a couple squirrels worth of weight when bending over to the height of a dead squirrel all day flush cutting brush.
