Do the air injection systems on the Husky and Jonsered saws do any good or are they just gimmicks. If it is a worthwhile system, was hasn't Stihl adopted something similar.

On my 357xp and 346xp when i am done with a day of cutting oak and maple I take the air filter cover off and there is virtually nothing in the way of dust and chips inside.I think my air filters will last a while at that rate.

From what I can tell, air injection is no gimmick, My 323L trimmer has that on it, and I've NEVER cleaned the air filter yet, no need to cause there hasnt been enough dirt geting to it to need to clean.

The air injection is a Partner design, and I believe it has been patented, and the patent has been controlled by E-lux. It has nothing to do with vacuum cleaners.

The first saw with the air injection was the Partner P7700 in the early 1980ies, and it has been used under different names at least on Partner, Jonsered , Husqvarna, swedish made Poulan Pro saws, and later also on other Poulans I think.

And yes, it does work and is no way a gimmick! :D

I got a 262xp years ago and the first thing I noticed was very very few chips/particles on the air filter.
The 262xp was the first Husky to have air injection (1989/90).
The first Jred was the 2051Turbo (1986/87).

Believe it or not I have a 24" bar on the old girl
Oh, I believe you.
According to this test they had more power output than any 60 cc saw before or later, and max torque was at the same level as the 372xp, but at lower rpm. The power band was also wider than on any other saw I have seen a test report on....

I don't have one myself  , but my brother has a 262xpg that he simply won't let go - believe me, I have tried to pry it from him.

I put a xl-98 concrete saw's top hat and filter on my SXL925.
Does this count? Looks cool too with the muffler mod and modified Clutch cover. "Always keep belt tight".

It certainly has a high compression ratio..... I use now primarily for firewood and an occasional take down.... my climbing days (brief as it was) are over.

Don't think of the TURBO label as air injection. Think of it as a prefilter.
As such it works great.
Except if you're a firefighter that gets involved in cutting lots of bark dust, very rotten wood and soot. The turbo set up spin the larger material, (saw chips) very well but not the lighter stuff. And that is what really clogs a filter.
I've heard loggers brag about going two weeks between filter cleanings when they're cutting just green.
I do prefer Stihl, so I don't understand why they haven't gone to this design. Must be a patent thing.

I also think so, but I am not able to prove it.

I have been told that the AI/Turbo does not create an over pressure, but that it does reduce the under pressure a bit, compared to other designs.

my 260 pro is the same way

I don't know how your using your 026 pro.......but when I use mine with razor sharp chain just pumping out nice size cutting chips.......my filter is usually filled with dust and chips......FACT!

Let us know the secret.
