I was just wondering, has anyone else here used an LRV60-E70 rear mount that was painfully slow? I used two of them and they both were extremely slow. Any ideas on what causes this? They go faster if you increase engine RPM to 1500, but this is not a recommended practice. Thanks.

Do you have a throtlle control for the pto or a pony motor?

Matt

What year is this unit? Newer ones have a preset throttle.

As John asked does it have a throttle?

Are all functions slow?

Does it run slow from just the basket or from the lower controls as well? If it runs good from the lowers throw a man in the basket and try it from the lowers. Does it still run good?

Do you have 500lbs of frozen/wet sawdust in the basket?

Check your dump valve (emergency stop). Depress it down all the way then pull it back up ensuring it is fully disengaged. Also do the same with your tool circuit.

Does it have a joystick controller? If you can lift the boot that covers it you can check for excessive sawdust accumulation. This you can blow out with compressed air. Then check to make sure the valve spool is getting full throw.

If all the above checks out good you may have one or more bad counter-balance valves or a problem in the cylinder(s) or a problem with the pump or main system relief valve.

Hope this helps.

I run one daily and it is slow until the oil gets warmed up. Then it seems to move faster. It is an 04 unit. The upper boom pistons were changed out when the unit was a year old and it did help some. Unit preset at about 1000 RPM, Dealer has checked the unit several times and says it is normal. I have run the non elevator type Altecs and they were much faster than the elevator right from the start. Good boom, but I agree they are slow, and the one I use especially when cold.

Throttle

No, there's no pony motor, the boom runs off the PTO at around 1000 RPM's. I agree with Dadatwins, the non elevators are faster. To answer motor, yes it is a joystick, no there isn't that much sawdust in the bucket. I was just thinking that maybe they are slow on purpose due to how much more height they have. If you are traveling slower, shockloading force would be less if the operator jerked the boom around (less leverage). Maybe they are purposely built slow.

A properly functioning LRV, even the elevators, should have a upper boom travel speed of 19-24 seconds full stroke.
