A picture might help us out. Maybe with some measurements on it?

How thick? I am guessing a cover goes on top and it looks like there is a grove around the perimeter of the "air box" that the oem filter fits in? Did the oem filet have rubber on the edges so when you tightened the cover down it made a good seal?

I made up a filter for a castor saw I had with a piece of Max Flo filter material, & used 1/2 x1/4 sticky one side neoprene on each side of the filter Worked fine for the 18 or so months up until I sold it on & as far as I know it`s still doing it`s job

Looks a lot like the Remington 55,65,82 type filters.

Just got back from the barn. The Remingtons are 4" wide,4 3/16" long, with the mount bolt center low instead of center high close but no seegar.

XL-700/800/900 Series Homelite (SXL-925, etc) looks similar too. I guess I should go out to the shop and measure one. Will do that tonight after work if I remember...

thought a filter off one of my old homelites would fit... just got home and measured it... close but no cigar. good luck brad!
