I with lone wolf, a log that big if it were Hornbeam would have many more rings, and besides I've seen bark that is shreddy even in a 4 inch diameter tree.

Ya'll folks and your saplings I have some hop horn beam in 10 to 12 inch diameter in my creek but I have seen much larger here.

I don't know what it is but it doesn't look like the hop horn beam we have in NNY.

They start out twisted knarly smooth fuckers but change later. It one of two horn beam or black birch the leaves look a bit too clean compared to my beam but then we are frying down here and have so many bugs.
