Hi Guys
Worked on the Big 10 today and decided to adjust the timing , so i took it to TDC and put the piston 3mm BTDC and shifted the timing so the points are just opening/closing and set it at that
Ive set the points to 18 thou and spark plug to 30 thou
After starting the saw it now peeks quite well , it does have a slight miss but ill put that down to carby tuning
Which will be next
I pulled the fuel tap off and it has an O ring in it which i will replace, that will stop the tap leaking and doing it self back up while the saw is running
Peter

Hi every one need this filter for my BIG 10 so if any one can help me out that would be great
I have the plate that bolts onto the carby but need the filter and outside plate
Ill pay postage
Thanks Regards Peter
Its known in the US as MAC 15
got an air cleaner now, which is great, only the starter to go

Went to asmall engine meet today in Maryborough Qld and ended up having a good chat with a guy named Zach
He had some great old saws there, nice young man
After showing him my Big 10 ,he has the pull starter and the plate im in need of to finish my saw off
He lives in Bundaberg Qld
Just waiting on the phone call now to pick the parts up
Peter
no joy on the pull starter, the young bloke wants to keep it
So dissappointed on not getting it, so still needing one guys:cry:

Cheap chinese tachometer from EBay that includes free international shipping?
Purely as an example:

I got mine from Amazon, looks the same, cost me more!
It will read rpm's wirelessly if it is close enough to the spark plug/wire.

Yes i will, didnt realise they would work on a points system saw, but will see whats around
I think a good one is around $80.00AU
It just counts the ignition induction pulse, works on any 2 & 4-stroke engine!
Is by default set for 4-stroke, thus needs to be set to 2-stroke if required.
I didn't feel like spending to much for something that will mostly reside in the chainsaw-toolbox and it works perfectly fine.

Peter, Richen the high side up a tad. The saw sounds like
it's screaming and not four stroking at all. There is also no
need to use a tach on a vintage chainsaw. I tune all mine by
ear. The saw needs to four stroke at wot and clean up in the
cut.

Lee
Thanks Lee
Yes i will do that and see how it goes, thats a great info to sort it out
