Hello All,
Just wanted to see if anyone was coming down to Winnfield, Louisiana this weekend?? There's six classes of Chain sawing: stock saw (saw provided), 0-3.0 cubic inch (provide your own saw), 3.1 cubic inch to 5.0 cubic inch (provide your own saw), 5.0 cubic inch to 6.0 bubic inch (provide your own saw), modified saw (provide your own "production" style saw), and unlimited (provide your own big engine).

On top of all that there's other traditional events such as Underhand chop, Standing Block chop, Springboard Chop, Single buck, double buck, jack & jill bucking, and axe throw.

To put it bluntly, it's a great show. Can't wait to get out of the office.

All the best,
Arden Cogar Jr. aka Jamie

Man, at one time, Melvin had some serious good running saws. I don't know if he has them anymore. I'm taking a bunch I borrowed off my cousin, which, in his opinion, are outdated. But you never know. Wayne Slayton has some engines that are simply outstanding. It's one of the toughest stock saw and chain saw contests in North America.

All the best,
Arden

The Louisiana Forest Festival -- April 22-23

The Louisiana Forest Festival, North Louisiana's recognized and oldest forestry event, is scheduled April 22-23 at the Winn Parish Fair Grounds in Winnfield.
The Louisiana Forest Festival continues with modern timber-related activities, including equipment demonstrations, professional timbersport contests, educational and food exhibits. The timber sport action draws professionals from across the United States, with 13 events, including six different chainsaw events.
The festival will have excellent fun and food throughout the main day on Saturday, April 23, with home made crafts, contests, and prize drawings, as well as children's activities and games.
The Festival begins with a parade on Friday at 5:30 p.m., running from Main Street in downtown Winnfield to the Fair Grounds one mile south of the business district on LA Highway 34.
On Saturday, events include a truck road-e-o for professional drivers, log loading, skidder competition, and equipment exhibits. Professional timbersports begin at 11 a.m., and a Lawn Mower "Mowdeo" begins at 2 p.m., with modified riding lawn mowers racing for prizes.
On both evenings, Friday and Saturday, Festival goers are invited to attend the Festival Rodeo, a wild-west favorite, in the Fair Grounds arena.
