Ok, I think I've nailed it: It's a misunderstanding.

The little ones you talk about, 210, 230 and 250, with that overwhelmingly plastic feeling, that vibrates so much, it's not saws for using in wood right? You're all talking about those things that, ehh, could be used instead of wood right..?

'Cause I don't think my Stihl MS250 is any more plastic than most no-pro saws, and the vibrations is close to non-noticeable. And I have an injury in my left arm that causes me to be very sensitive about temperatures and vibrations.

It's a great little saw, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, I would just leave out the c-be of it.

NYH1: I suggest you buy that 353!
I might, I don't know yet, leaning towards a Stihl though.

I don't really understand why people look at the 250 for example when you can get a 50cc Husky like the 353, or if it's to much money, a 345, 350 .
The 353 is $90 more then the MS 250. And if you buy and put on a non cat muffler for the 353 there is another $30 to $40 and your warranty is voided, that matters to some people. I don't have a problem spending $400 or so. The 345 and 350 are only sold in BOX STORES in my area that do not offer service and have very few parts. And I only have one Husky dealer who stocks the 353 (and 357xp for that matter) and he's the farthest one away from me. The rest of the Husky dealers only stock a few saws and most don't have to many parts. There are two Stihl dealers that are kind of the same way. For the most part though the Stihl dealers in my area are pretty much full stocking and servicing dealer. Especially the one that's 5 minutes from me and the one that's 10 minutes from me!!!

In the 50cc class, Husky is by far better than Stihl. The 260 which should be Stihls best saw in that class, is a by far beaten by the 346 or 353.
I'm not looking at a MS260. I'm looking at a MS250 and more so MS280. Even Saw Troll has recommended a MS280 over a 353 before.......and I quote!

359 or Ps5100S, if the limit is about 400 USD, the 353 is not up to it imo, even though it is a very nice saw.

For that size wood, I would also take the MS280 over the 353, more cc and power output, even though it isn't a full blown pro quality saw.

Does anyone know the price of the Emak 62 cc and 56 cc saws (Efco, OleoMac, John Deere).....

If you want 60cc, then it's a different story. Most people would recommend you a 361. 70cc : 372,440 , 80cc : PS7900 , 90cc : 395 / 660 , and so on...

each class has some top saws where people can argue which one is no 1. But in the 50cc class, it's not Stihl. Then I understand that dealer support etc is important and so on. But still, can't for my life understand why you should by a 250 or 260 although I've tried hard. My only recommendation is that you should try some other saws before deciding on a MS250. Most new saws feel really great in the hands and when you try them against your old ones. But it's not until you try them against the other new ones that you really see the difference.
I'm still deciding between the MS250, MS280 and 353. I don't know yet. I've read on this site how bad the Stihl 021 or MS210 is. Well I have a 021 and it's been a great little saw. I have ran a Husky 350. Yes it definitely cuts a lot faster then my 021 as it should it makes 1.2 more horsepower. To tell you the truth it didn't seem to run any smoother then my 021. If the MS250 runs anything like my 021 does, I think for the money it could be a nice lightweight little saw bought from a good servicing dealer. I'd probably get the MS280 though.

NYH1,
Have you considered trading in one of your current saws toward your next purchase? It might open up some other possibilities.
My 021 is a keeper. It's just an awesome little saw, Light weight and very useful, I really use it all the time. I was thinking about selling my 029 and getting a MS361 or 357XP. I probably wouldn't get much for the 029 so it's probably not worth selling. I'm kind of going back to my original plan of getting a new saw that is in between the two saws I currently have both weight and power wise. That's a MS250, MS280 or a 353.

WRW, I really do like the 353, just as much as I like the MS280. Like I said though with the exception of one Husky dealer and he's the farthest dealer away from me, Husky dealers in my area don't really compare to the Stihl dealer as far as service and parts go.

Last I'll say on it, trade in the 210 on a 45cc saw. You'll see a 1/2 again gain in HP with the same weight. It makes a lot of difference...A LOT!
Then, in the future you can adjust your needs on the bigger saw.

That's from experience.

I appreciate the advise! :biggrinbounce2:

interesting abuot only the box stores having 345/350 in your area. we only intermittently have 345's here but always have 350's...we sell more of those than any other husky.

Cam501, we had a great Stihl/Hushy dealer that stocked just about every model from both manufactures. They went out of business or sold it a year or so ago. The guy that took over doing their business, by that I mean if you dial the old stores number, a new guy answers the phone and he's at a different location. He doesn't carry Stihl anymore just the Husky's. I asked him for a price on a 353. He told me the 353 was an old model and Husky stopped making it a while back. He was the second Husky dealer in my area to tell me this. I didn't bother asking if he or even the other clueless dealer stocked any 350's. I won't do business with either of these two idiots anyway's. They either don't know their product line or just want to sell the saws they have in stock. I beleave it's a little of both! Other Husky dealer just sell a few saws. Maybe a 142, 340, 455 and a larger saw or two.

I've come to the conclusion that it isn't really worth doing business with most Husky dealers around here. With the exception of the Stihl/Husky/Jonsered dealer who is the farthest from me (and I didn't see any 350's when I was there). The two Stihl dealers by me are just as good as him as far as stocking parts and doing service go's. One only sells Stihl, he's 5 minutes from me. The other sells Stihl and Jonsered, he's 10 minutes from me. No sense driving 30 to 40 minutes for parts and service when I can drive 5 to 10. ;) :biggrinbounce2:

Amen, brother!! I looked at the 345 & 350 and didn't see any more or less plastic than on the 250. My buddy watched a fellow construction worker drop an 025 off the roof of a local high school(20+feet). It broke the handle but the little saw kept right on running. Certain plastics are very durable.

In all honesty, I can't say that I've noticed any discernable vibrations in this saw. I keep my chains sharp and the saw runs very smoothly. For those of you who actually own the saw and complain of vibrations, I'm curious...please elaborate, because my experience is totally too the contrary. Thanks!

372,365,357,257,353,038,ms290,ms250
of these saws only the vibes on the ms 250 really piss me off.
That's my elaboration

Did you take it back? Maybe there is something wrong with it.

I intended to after I bought it but somehow didn't get around to it :bang:
I will do so in the near future and let y'all know if they find anything wrong with it(which I highly doubt).

There's definitely something wrong with it if it vibrates more than a 290.

Oh dear!!
The 290's not great but much smoother than the 250.
What the hell could it be?? The saw runs strong, starts easy, hasn't been used a whole lot,is in very good shape etc.

How Far Are You From HELL, Norge ?

Definately not the ones I have used (250 Cs), quite the contrary, and they vibrate like H*ll, worse than the 026/024.......:chainsaw:
Hey there S.T. I've been to Hell, Norge. How far are you from H*LL ?? And, they even stamped my passport. They say: "Come to Hell" :pumpkin2:
