Nothing wrong with the ms250

I have put my ms250 to some good use and it has been a strong saw that has run great for its size and price. I get a kick out of the guys that say it vibrates like hell and has alot of plastic? Its a 45cc saw come on now? Those nascar huskys 345,350 have alot of plastic themselfs, flimsy choke levers, and you need a screwdriver to get at the airfilter but they work well also. I would not hesitate to buy a stihl ms250 again as it has been nothing but a good saw for my needs.:D

So...Stan?

Stan, I'm just curious...where do you stand on your next purchase? You've received a fair amount of posts, certainly enough to provide you some initial direction. As always, opinions are abundant. What saws have you narrowed your decision down to, which saws have you actually gone down to check-out in relationship to this thread, and when do you plan on making your purchase? How about an update. Thanks!

The MS441 is a nice saw, no doubt about that! Congratulations on it! I'll be picking up a 460 in March (that's the current plan anyways). Keep us updated when you get around to picking-up the next one. Thanks for the update.

RMC3 Bore/Plunge Cutting

That H*ll is pretty far south of here, about 600+ miles, I believe.....

Sounds like Hell is in the Banana Belt of Norway. Nice cruising around the Lofotens however :rockn: .

RMC3 chain: The dealer said that this new Stihl model chain with the funny rakers will bore or plunge cut smoother than the RS chains I always have used. The RMC3 is rated by Stihl as a "green" or safety chain, which is usually slower that the semi-chisel "yellow" chains.
Comments from the experts ? :blob2:

thank you Jim

I really like my 441 it cuts great is smooth and suprisingly nimble considering the weight.Id just like a smaller saw later to limb with and save my 441
For bigger cutting which it was meant to do

The weak part of the RS, RM and Oregon LG chains for borecutting are the large rakers. Oregon LP has narrower rakers, and a small ramp in front - a design that makes that chains better for borecutting, as the rakers doesn't interfere with cutter performance at the tip of the bar.

Stihl have partly copied the LP design on the RSC3 and RMC3, but I suspect that they left the rakers too large, and made the ramps a bit too large also, for optimum function.

I have not tried them, so I don't really know - the above is just a theory, so far.........
