You know , I just can't figure about the long bars , I'm sure that
everyone wants the longest one possible for their saw , but I'm not even getting any ..yea right , or dosen't everyone ?,,, or wish in one hand . Are they realy that hard to come by and if they are just what is the best way to locate one ?

I don't want a long bar unless I'm cutting wood the same size.. Long bars are a hassel to use when you don't need the length. I like to go as short as possible

Manic,

As you start to look for longer bars you will quickly find that they can be more expensive than the saw you put them on. I am not sure if the Stihl 59" is still available. I can check the book and see about a price. I can assure you it will be very expensive. When you check out Bailey's you will see that the sky is the limit. If you can get by with a 36" then do it because it will save you hundreds. A 36" can easily be found for $50-100. I would like a 48" -60" but really do not want to wrap up the money it is going to take. When you go that big the price multiplies many times over. There just is not a demand for the really long bars.

Manic,

I now see from your previous posts that you are looking for a bar for a 2 man Disston saw. If you have one that runs and is dependable enough to cut wood then I commend you. I have some two mans also but they are wall hangers. I need to tear into one of them some time and see about getting it running. It just might with some work. I do not mean to be offensive but if you have one that is running with a 48 inch bar you may have to be satisfied with that. Most I have see had 30 inch bars and are far from running. Have you put your wife on the other end ?
I have always wondered how much jumping those saws do with such a huge pitch chain. I know the low speeds would help but it still looks to me that they would jump and vibrate a great deal.
