Oh yeah, Scott. After you put your new ring/seal in, check the starter cord drop test and tell me what happens. After the new ring in the JB Weld 2300 and maybe five minutes of run time, it will still slowly fall down. I'm certain it falls down slower than it did but I was under the impression it would not fall down.

It starts now cold on the second pull, first pull warm. I suppose I got it dialed in on the carb right so I wont be concerned about it.

KF tree, the scratch in your first pic looks to be below the rings. I think you could just give it a finger touch with emery cloth to take off any burr and leave it alone, it should not make any difference.

I did made a similar scratch and as it is below the ring and not even touched by the piston skirt, it is nothing other than a mark of achievement.

Tom , your 2300 muffler cover , baffles , and screen look just like the 2000's . I'm waiting to hear how it sounds and runs with and without the screen .

Took down a large dogwood Sat with the JB Weld saw. Very surprised in how big a difference opening up the muffler made. I didn't try it with the screen in, only used it without. I'll definately be opening up my other mufflers on these smaller saws.

This saw started cold with one pull on choke. Can't believe that saw performs so well and I've got less than $40.00 in it. Its a great climbing saw since its so light and 38 cc. I'll be up a pine with it this week.

Poulone Saw

Tom , that's the first time I've ever heard of a one pull Poulan . You sounded bummed with the saw after reringing and it still slowly unwound the starter cord . The Dogwood we have here is very hard like the White Oak so you probably got it fully warmed up so how does it compare to the non Scotch-Brite 38cc saw ? Have you tried the muffler without the baffles but leave in the spark arrestor ?

I've got a feeling the red 2.3 is going to be a keeper. I dig the push button oiler and its a very light saw as well. The JB Weld saw is a little lighter on the oil than I prefer. I'm going to be sure the bleed off screw on it is clear.

I had a handle from George on the site here and I bent it to fit the red 2.3, so its got a newer handle with a handguard on it. I haven't used the red one yet. Should this weekend though. Its two pulls choked one pull off choke when cold. Warm starts first pull. Also, starts any position whether its lent forward or whatever.

Didn't try without the baffles leaving in the screen. Wouldn't some back pressure be preferable?
