Hey guys,I'm getting a new bar, windsor speed tip is 5 bucks cheaper than the Oregon powermatch, both have replaceable sprocket noses, any pros or cons on these two bars?

Rosco

I've got a couple older ones; one is OK, not a lot of use (16" large Husky mount...I prefer 20"), other is still useable, but the metal seemed to have heat-treat problems. The bar was very hard and wear resistant, but loses very tiny spalls from the wear surface.

I'd be willing to bet that it was a problem related to just a few bars that made it through quality control, and I have to admit the bar shows less wear (groove widening) than Oregons do with same use.

Hello,
I started using them in sizes twenty inches and under and like them alot. I actually think they wear better than the oregon bars for my cutting applications.

Ben I think you'll like the Cannon bars they are very good I use them on a few of my saw's but they are quite exspensive :( I get the Woodsman Pro bars from Baileys which are Cannon bars renamed..I still like the Oregon Pro bars I have'nt had a problem with them yet..

Later Rob..

I have been running GB bars for about a year.
Have had nothing but good luck with them.

Might be good for light useage, but they've never held up for me, tips wear out fast and the bar metal gets thin too fast , its oregon or woodsman pro [ cannon] for me.

Why can I buy a oregon bar a hell of a lot cheaper than a woodsman pro?

Woodsman bars are Cannons rebadged by baileys. They are suppose to be made of better steel and also have a precision gorund groove instead of a milled one like on a oregon. Cannon claims much longer life. Is it worth the extra money? I dont know, but I will let you know as I am trying a cannon right now. I have used oregons for a long time, but it has been my and others observation that there quality is slipping a bit.

I bought GBBAR's old inventory

I bought some bars from them and had only one fail.

Pretty sure it wwas the customer using no oil since he burned the paint off the entire edge of the bar.

The guy decided to shut the saw down after the nose bearings seized.

Called GBBAR and they drop shiped him a new one.

I couldn't belive they would be so kind to the guy.

Anyway they hold up pretty good and some bars have titanium in them. They have other bars with Stellite welded in high wear areas and then grinded to match the bar and milled.

The one bar that failed

It put the fail rate at less than one percent.

Not much you can do to mess up a piece of steel with a grove milled in it and a roller on the end.:p
