Sorry for the dumb questions. I am trying to get up to speed on keeping my saws working. (I heat with wood). Have lots of car, truck, tractor experience but find myself scratching my head a lot trying to work on these saws.
Maybe if I can get a fundamental understanding of how these saws work ....

Can someone explaing how the fuel gets from the filter on the end of the hose in the tank to the carb.

Thanks a lot.

The fuel is "sucked" from the tank by a small fuel pump in the carb, connected via the impulse hose and driven from fluctuating vacuum that is caused by the piston moving up and down.

That helps a lot Lakeside, thank you

That helps a lot Lakeside, thank you. So If I understand you there should be 2 hoses to the carb, one from the crankcase, (or whatever you call it on a 2 cycle) and the one from the tank.
So as the piston goes up and down it applies an intermittant vacuum to a diaphram in the carb. Which in turn applies a vacuum to the hose to the tank.
Would this be correct?

Are there any other devices in these lines?

Thanks again.
