Best Method for reducing long fireewood

I thought this tub of smoker chunks would be easy with my 12" sliding Dewalt mitre saw but it was pins and needles. I vote chainsaws as much as possible then a hatchet.

I'll build a saw buck or find one via Craigslist pretty soon.
But, in the meantime I just took them and slammed, wedged and stuffed them in-between some massive red oak rounds and commenced cutting like a wild man!
After 4-5 minutes the carnage was over...here are ze results:innocent::
The hickory was hard as a rock. A miter or chop saw would have been tuff going.
Yet, the 026 with RS chisel chain proved more than formidable!!! :chainsaw:
