Depends on who wants to know, and why.
Kind of a long story, so I'll try to make it short. A friend of mine owns a good-sized rental home. Previous tenants left in the middle of the night due to some kind of an arrest warrant that was about to be served.

This was about three weeks ago. My friend arrived to inspect his property and saw a very large (according to him) Stihl chainsaw in the garage. He's not at all into saws and knows nothing about them. He did say that it appeared to be clean and in very good condition. He knows me well enough that I don't buy beater stuff.

At this point, all the tenant's property that was left behind is now abandoned. He has some damage done to the house, so he's having a limited estate sale this coming Friday / Saturday to cover the cost of the repairs. He said that there's some firearms as well.

So, I'm overdue for a m/c ride, and the weather here is nothing short of superb. It's about 150 miles to where I need to be, to check everything out.

The last thing I need is another saw. But, my curiosity has the best of me, saw and firearms wise. I figure that even if the items don't pan out, I'll at least have gotten a ride in tomorrow.

I've never had an 088 before. A guy can hope can't he? :)

Roger that. I wanna know what he's got! You better post a pic as soon as you pay for it. This kind of 'blind date' gets me excited.

I know. Issues.

Why don't you have him text you some pic's?

He called me about the situation after he learned about it, and was already back home. That, and I'm just not a camera kind of guy. I almost always forget to take a camera on vacation and I almost never ask others to take pics for me.

Did you ask him if there were any stickers or badges on it with numbers, something don't smell right.

I don't get it about this forum. If someone doesn't know everything there is to know about chainsaws and if there aren't any pics, something doesn't smell right or is suspicious.

We are just talking about chainsaws and they're not the end of the world.....although I'm sure that some of you might think so.

If this thread gets any where's near being nasty or goes sideways, I won't post anything about what I find. Let's keep it friendly, easy going and laid back.

It's just a stupid saw.

to some a 029 is a big stihl.id get some pictures. i understand leaving a saw behind but firearms? really?

If you had spent nearly 30 yrs. in LE, you wouldn't be surprised at all what some people leave behind when they hear about an arrest warrant being served.

Cars......very expensive cars come to mind for one. ;)

Sorry, it doesn't even occur to me anymore that people might not have a camera on them. My phone is my hi-res camera, laptop, mp3 player, and video game system wrapped into 1. Not to mention it also answers calls once in a while.

That's what I was thinking. My 290 Farm Boss was a big saw not that long ago. Now I reminisce about the good old days before CAD set in.
