biggest power on a supper splitter

is the Lister a new one or one of the old type

the fiberglass cover on the splitter was falling apart so i made one out of aluminum.

i really like what you did with that build the lower center of gravity is a nice idea.
im thinking about trying to add another flywheel under slung to take advantage of the extra power.

finely got around to replacing the old engine on my super splitter and in keeping with the them of MORE is better i uped the power a teeny bit. my experience is that the 16:1 reduction powers through a lot after the flywheels have unloaded there juice.

i ran some knotty old apple crotches that i had put to the side because of the odd shapes and sizes. the extra power really is nice to have. once the initial hit is spent the 16:1 reduction dogs the motor a little and it jest powers through the tough bits.

i ripped the bolts out of the push plate slide. had to add some gussets and weld it up. if i pull the bolts again i will tap the through holes in the intermediate block and bolt the push bar to the block with a bigger bolt instead of going through the block and into the 1/2" slide plate not much thread there. i will try and post a pick

update after 3 years with the bigger engine mounted on new 1/2" gusseted base. No regrets on the big power.Went from a bigger than stock 250cc B&S 1150 to 342cc 1650 got to be close to 10hp. yes burns a little more fuel but once the flywheels dump that big power dogs in and at 16:1 reduction on the belt drive it cuts get that CUTS right through almost anything. only issue is some belt slip on the flywheel.
So i got thinking about what could be done and 4hr 1 tool holder and 3 tools later and the fly wheel now has 2 A belt V grooves. set upon small milling table for drill press clamped to some channel clamped to the bottom of the I beam.

so used the supper spliter as its own lathe. cast iron cut ok did hit o air pockit that broke one tool $7. I also broke on 1" of the edge of the casting put welded out nice. After machining the v grooves all that was left was swap the flywheels so the V grooves were back on the drive side.
