also this is a way to test the waters for me if i decide this is the way to go then all the piping etc will already be in and i can just upgrade the owb

on a side note to help make my current setup a little more bearable i thought about taking a 90 degree elbow and putting it in the whole where the flue connects and turning it down so the smoke will go to the top then have to come back down a foot or so to come up the flu... might help a little. i know there will be no way to keep smoke from pouring in the house but usually when i reload it down to red hots anyways ...
any thoughts on this

so i have an old energy mate indoor wood boiler that im going to build a shed and insualte it and make it an outdoor unit
OOPS!, my mistake, I thought this was an OWB to start with on your first post. Should have been more careful reading this than diving in to it. I don't mean to change or step into your post. Could this boiler that you have now in your house can be converted into oil burner gun set up? And keep it as a close loop heating system and also as a sec. back up heating (in your house) while gone away. This way you can install an OWB and tie it together with a heat exchanger to separate the open and close loop system instead, just a thought. And still can keep the low temp. 140 F cutout setup on your OWB in your outdoor shed.

henry the burner that is in my house currently is not a boiler it is forced air so i dont think it would be worth trying to add a water jacket etc.

Maybe this has already been answered. (I only skimmed the posts)
I was going to rig up some cut off for my inducer also when the fire went out but I just decided not to worry about it. Not really a big deal. Let it blow.

I mean, another thought... Unless you have a tiny house you're probably going to be running that sucker flat out most of the time. Maybe KISS it for a while? Don't worry about that draft fan running too long. It's going to just make it through the night and be running for what, an hour until you get your butt out of bed to load it again? ;) That fan is like 70W - about what a light bulb pulls. If it's on a bit it's going to cost you less all winter than the snap disc alone...

thats a very good point taskswap wont hurt a thing. how long do you think the water will maintain temp after the fire isnt hot enough to heat the water anymore with the circ pump running
