I know a lot of guys think the 026 is out dated, but I absolutely loved that saw. It was light weight and had a lot of power for the size of the saw. I went ahead and bought the 361, but I was going to buy the 026, I just really liked the saw. But I like my 361 better :) How do you like the 034 super ?? I have just the regular 034 and it has been a really good saw. I have had it for probably 15 years and I bet it will be around for another 15.

unfortunately I havent tried it yet. I really liked the 026 and did not want to get rid of it but, it was a lot of work for someone like me who knows very little about the saws. I shoulnt have paid what I did plus the amount of money it would have taken to fix it. They guy was very understanding and let me swap for an almost mint 034 plus a little $ which was very fair, and I coulnt refuse. Maybe some day I will own another 026

I really like the 026/260 saws, There are a ton of 026s to be had.
And now that you have good saws you can take your time and find a good
used one. The best time to look for a saw is when you don't need one

Amen Trigger. Kinda like dont go grocery shopping when you are hungry. I have a 026 Pro, my first saw, and its awesome. Trouble free, lightweight, easy to start...

026 Pro tank vent leaks?

Lakeside:
The vent on the older 026 will "leak - that's GOOD. If it's blocked - that's bad. The vent doesn't have an o-ring...
Sounds like there is nothing that you can do to stop the vent from leaking?
I replaced the filter in the vent, that helped some but still seeps alittle.
Any other suggestions?
Also is there a mod muffler for the 026, or which is the best way to mod the muffler?
Thanks

There is a rubber flapper inside the tank under the newer vents. Replace that. It's a PITA and NOT cheap (like $4-5), and sometime it take two to get it in successfully! If you want to do it, I can explain my technique..

Muffler - take off the front cover, remove screen, drill a 5/16 to 3/8 hole above and below the existing hole, clean out fillings and burrs, replace screen and muffler front. Retune carb to 14k..

If you don't have a two screw carb, replace it with a WT194.

Fuel Tank & Muffler Mod

Thanks for the info Lakeside, appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I replaced the flapper as well, wondering if maybe I didn't get it in there just right. And you are right it is a bear to get the new flapper installed.
As for the muffler mod.............
Is there any chance of getting some metal shavings into the cylinder, I will definantely be as careful as possible?
Thanks again

I can't tell... It's always a crap shoot. Depends on the cylinder you have installed, and the muffler.

If it has the heat shield that's a late model muffler, so "probably". You may have to play games with the sheild in/out though.

026 "Classic"

but I absolutely loved that saw.

I'm with you I think the 026/MS260 is a great saw.

I know a lot of guys think the 026 is out dated,

I've seen that posted here several times myself.

Of course I guess by that way of thinking a '55 T-Bird is an "outdated design" and the '68 302 camero is "underpowered" and a '64 corvette definitely "has way to many vibes" :buttkick:
Doesn't stop folks from thinking their great cars and wanting to own one.
I guess we should start referring to the 026/MS260 as a "classic" ;)

Hey, since their classics now maybe I can sell mine for 6 times what they cost new. Anyone need a saw????????
:D :D :D :D :D
