Ok, Your dead easy way, you are using a washer do you determine that by the squish ?

I don't understand the question...

After reeding the question again, I don't understand what I was trying to say either.

I'll start again.
you set the washer on top of the piston, rotate the crank till it hits the washer, set the wheel at say 15 degree btdc, then rotate the crank the other direction till it stops, the wheel reads say 17 degree atdc, so I would sit the wheel at 16 degree atdc and rotate it other direction and wheel reads 16 btdc."bingo" now take the washer off the piston and turn crank to 0 degree tdc.
Is this how your finding tdc ?

Ok thanks, Looks like I am going to have to make a piston stop.
I can make one faster then ordering one.
The wheel came out nice, looks like I am going to redesign it by drilling a larger hole and making different inserts for other cranks afterword's.

Thanks Andy, Thanks A Lot

Now I gotta go down to the garage. (mumbling) D@m it's cold outside, now where’s my antifreeze.
:hmm3grin2orange:

As always You Da Man

And don't worry fella's he cant stand not sharing we'll know what the project is soon enough. :D

Hey!!!!!

I don't understand the question...

Did I miss something here??? how does this thread skip from 12/06 to yesterday and who is Ultra Lakeside and Manual T Hall?????? Im confused:confused:   but what else is new????

Nice Degree wheel BTW what ya building???????? a space shuttle :monkey:

I got a chance to use my degree wheel today. thought you might want to look at the setup.
I used a Coat hanger as a piston stop for calibration,(Guess I could have used a Allen wrench), and a piece of .032" of safety wire for a pointer.

Looks great, but my design only works on saws witg the correct paint color - it will be exactly 2.87654321256 degrees off on that puppy

So.. what are you port times/durations?

Ok, Im dragging out this old thread for a few reasons. 1: Andy never posted how the 044 turned out 2: Where can a person find reliable info on whats best to do mod wise using a degree wheel. Lets say like on...ummmmm...an 026 Pro?:) Very good information on the degree wheel, this thread is worth bringing back to life.

I never got around to it. Just took a bunch of measurements on the old and newer cylinders, and put it on the "project list". I like my saws stock anyhow (except the mufflers)... ;)
